World Polio Day, October 24, Just Around the Corner!
RC Easton, MD: A Night at the Movies
Many of you are familiar with the recent 56-minute movie produced by D7620’s PDG Ken Solow: “Dare to Dream: How Rotary Became the Heart & Soul of Polio Eradication”.
But you might not be aware of the efforts by D7630’s Rotary Club of Easton, MD, to use this inspiring movie to raise money for the PolioPlus Fund of The Rotary Foundation on October 24, World Polio Day.
They’re sponsoring a “Movie Night”!
In a nutshell, RC Easton, under the leadership of President Richie Wheatley, plans to rent out the historic downtown 400-seat Avalon theater, sell tickets locally to raise money for the
event, start the evening with a one-hour social, introduce fellow Easton Rotarian Tim Kagan to speak about how his trip to India to administer polio vaccine changed his life, and then show the film.
Sound like a great idea? It meets the three desired objectives
of World Polio Day events—involve Rotarians, create local
awareness, and raise funds for the Countdown to History Campaign.
And new club members are a likely bonus.
You might consider having a similar fundraiser. And, if
you’re reasonably “local”, drive on over to Easton on Maryland’s
Eastern Shore that night and participate in a fun event.
